Terms of Use
StillwaterTalk.com (“the Site”, “we”) is a community discussion forum for people in and around Stillwater, Oklahoma. By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.
1. Who can use the Site
You must be at least 18 years old. The Site hosts open, adult local discussion, and it is not intended for children.
2. Content is written by users
Everything on the Site is posted by its users, anonymously or under a username. We do not write, check or verify it before it appears, and we do not endorse it. Posts and comments are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not of the Site or its operator. Content may be wrong, out of date or offensive.
3. You are responsible for what you post
You are solely responsible for your posts and comments and for any consequences of them. By posting you confirm that you have the right to share the content, and you give the Site a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence to store, display and distribute it as part of running the forum.
4. What you may not post
- Threats, harassment or incitement to violence.
- Doxxing: private people’s addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, photos of homes or other personal information.
- Defamation: false statements of fact that damage a person’s or business’s reputation, including unproven accusations of crimes or misconduct stated as fact.
- Illegal content or content that promotes illegal activity.
- Sexual content, and anything sexual involving minors (which we will report to the authorities).
- Hate speech, meaning attacks on people because of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or similar traits.
- Spam, scams, advertising, flooding, or attempts to get around the Site’s limits, bans or anti-spam checks.
5. Moderation
The admin may remove any content, hide it while it is reviewed, and ban any user, device or network at any time, with or without notice or explanation. Content that is reported by several different people may be hidden automatically until a moderator looks at it. We have no duty to monitor the Site and no duty to remove anything, but we will try to act on reports of content that breaks these Terms.
6. Usernames and passphrases
Usernames are optional. If you create one, you choose a passphrase. We do not collect an email address, so a lost passphrase cannot be recovered and we cannot reset it. Keep it safe; you are responsible for activity under your account. You can edit or delete your own posts and comments while logged in; anonymous posts cannot be edited or deleted by their authors because there is no way to prove who wrote them. We may reserve or reclaim names, and we may suspend or ban an account at any time.
7. Reporting content and takedown requests
To report a post or comment, use its Report button. To request removal of content, including content you believe is defamatory, unlawful, or exposes your private information, use the Contact the admin form (Report content) and include:
- A link to the post or comment (the page address, plus which comment if it is a comment).
- What is wrong with it: quote the specific statement.
- Why it is defamatory, unlawful or otherwise breaks these Terms (for example, why the statement is false or what law it breaks).
- Optionally, a way to reach you (the form’s reply-contact field).
We will review notices in good faith and may remove or hide the content, but we are not obliged to remove content merely because someone disagrees with it, and we may ask for more information.
8. Legal process
We may preserve and disclose information we hold (see the Privacy Policy) when we believe in good faith that the law or valid legal process requires it, or to protect people from serious harm.
9. No affiliation
StillwaterTalk.com is an independent community site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the City of Stillwater, Oklahoma State University, or any government body, school or business.

11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Site’s operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any user’s content or conduct, arising from your use of the Site. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
